News

June 29th 2004
This past weekend Utopia was at  the Ford Mammoth Motocross in Mammoth Mountain. At 37 years old it
is the oldest continuing running motocross in the United States. This is also probably going to be the last
time the Ford Mammoth Motocross will be run. After 37 years on the mountain the folks at Mammoth are
getting a lot of pressure from the US Department of Agriculture's Forrest Services to restore the racetrack
to a "natural appearing condition". After almost 4 decades of racing in Mammoth we might all be saying
goodbye to this track. Literally thousands of riders from juniors to the 86yr old Dave McCoy have been
coming back to track for 37yrs. If its something you feel strongly about you can take a look at the
Mammoth motocross website at www.mammothmotocross.com . You can also e-mail your comments in
acceptable [plain text (.txt), rich text (.rtf) or Word (.doc)] formats, may be submitted to
comments-pacificsouthwest-inyo@fs.fed.us subject: Motocross Racetrack EA.

Alright now for the race information. Utopia came out to support all our pro
and amateur riders . We had a great turn out and some nice competition.
Tim Weigand beat out Jeremy McGrath in the 250 pro qualifier and went
on to place second behind McGrath in the final beating out Rusty Holland
and factory Suzuki's Sebastian Tortelli. Weigand led for most of the open
pro 500 but ultimately finished 3 rd behind Rusty Holland and Jeremy
McGrath. Utopia's Tim Weigand also took runner up privateer at the event with riders placing
18 th and 19 th and his team taking 21 st over all.

We we're hanging with my buddy Carey Hart while he was taking some down time at the Utopia tent so if
we got a chance to see you there, thanks for the support. I'll be headed to Red Bud this weekend where
we'll see the return of Matthieu Lalloz. Matthieu hurt his knee at Southwick and this will be his first race
back. Nathan Ramsey has another year with Utopia and we plan on supporting him wherever he goes. The
rest of the Utopia team will be out at Red Bud so keep an eye out for us, and I'll be out at Redlands in
August to support our amateur riders so check back for dates on the Redlands race.

In other Utopia news the Crusty Demons tour passed through LA this past weekend. The Crusty
Demonstour like Lollapalooza had to cancel the remaining tour dates due to poor ticket sales. So that
leaves Twitch and Ronnie Faisst more time to practice before the X-games in August. Twitch and Faisst
qualified for the X-games last weekend in Vegas. Out of 12 spots for the X-games there were only 3
left open and out of 40 riders Twitch and Faisst placed 1 and 2 in the qualifier. The X-games qualifier will be
televised so check back for dates and times on that.
